Mitch Olsen

Access Coordinator

Access Coordinator

As an Access Coordinator, Mitch is responsible for providing reasonable accommodations and services on both the Evanston and Chicago campuses. He looks forward to collaborating with students, faculty, and other staff to ensure all students have equal access to the academic environment. Mitch is passionate about self-advocacy and disability awareness.

Prior to transitioning into higher education, Mitch worked as a teacher of the deaf at a nonpublic school in the western suburbs called Child’s Voice. Child’s Voice contains a listening and spoken language program for children who are deaf or hard of hearing. Mitch’s role was to empower these children to develop their spoken language and listening skills to become successful lifelong learners. Mitch enjoys being able to continue serving students with disabilities and empowering them to become successful learners in his role at Northwestern.

Mitch earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Knox College and a Master of Science in Deaf Education from Washington University in St. Louis. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, running, watching horror movies, and discovering new restaurants!
